Winter Acappella Concert!!!!!!!!......1/4/10 9:56 PM
Happy new year to all! Tis a new decade and it is going to be a great one! With the first half of the school year coming to an end we are capping it off with a huge acappella concert! SEVEN of our highschools student run groups will be performing including yours truly. It is going to be an excellent concert with great music. Both shows will be the same so come to either or if you like it that much come to both!
There will also be a guest performance by the Binghamton Crosbys! This is very special to the sharps because an alumnus of the group and former manager, Jordan Rabinowitz, is a member of the Crosbys and will be performing with them! It is going to be great and we hope to see all the sharps fans there!

Long awaited update!......11/28/09 3:35 PM
It has been a while but there is oh so much to talk about. First off, the B#'s recently performed in our highschools Tri-m Talent Show and it was incredible. We performed our newest song Oh What A Night by The Four Seasons and oh what a night it was. The B-sharps took 3rd place in the ensemble division and took home quite a big trophy. This performance is setting a standard for us this year showing we have the talent to do great things.
We are starting to poor in the songs. Our two newest songs, Gravity by John Mayer and as I said Oh What A Night by The Four Seasons. We have a lot of songs that are in the works including one that we are taking out of the B#'s vault. You will have to come to the winter night of acapella to find out what it is. Our year could not be doing better! Again if you ever need us for a party or anything of that sort dont ever be afraid to email me!

2009-2010 Here we come!.....8/07/09 9:01 PM
New members! New manager! New group! New year! Ben Rabinowitz here telling you to get ready for an incredible year by the best highschool male acapella group I know! Now when I say new group, it's actually barely new. We lost our former manager Scott Waldman but with losing one we've gained two new members, Brett Lamel and Jonah Steuer. Two great guys who have exactly what it takes to fit into this fine group. With already a fine set of songs we look to add on to that for our ultimate goal of the year. A B-sharps BBQ. We'll do it just like the last time with skits and songs. But keep visiting our website to see what other performances might pop up through the year. This group has got spunk. We want to have fun but we have a strong work ethic. Expect incredible performances at the NOA (Night of Acapella) in the winter and spring! Now this post was delayed so long because i wanted to officially wait untill the year started because our first rehearsal is this sunday! We are getting an early start this year. We're going to get our talent show audition song done early. So through out the year im the man behind the text in these posts. Enjoy the website and keep checking for new posts!

Closing time for me......... 6/22/09 11:48 PM
Well, the time has finally come for the website post I never actually wanted to write. After three fantastic years as a member of the B Sharps, I am officially off to the College of William & Mary and ready to leave a very talented group behind. I feel an unbelievable amount of sadness realizing that for the first time since early 2006, I will not spend each Sunday evening with some of the most talented and fun guys I've ever known. For those of you who have suported the group while I was in it as well as all of those who have been there since the start of the Sharps so many years ago, I would like to say thank you for helping the B Sharps to blossom into what it has become. For the original members I was so unfortunate not to have enjoyed this experience with, I say thank you for creating the foundations and traditions the current members now are able to embrace. And to those who have been in the group with me throughout the past three years, I want to express my extreme gratitude for thousands of memories that I will cherish forever, and I hope you enjoyed the time as much as I did. However, I am one person and I know that the group next year will far exceed our accomplishments of the 08-09 school year. (barbeque again anyone?) So without furthur adu (sp?), I would like to announce the 2009-2010 B Sharps:

Harrison Chad (Associate Manager)
Cory Hecht
Brett Lamel
Michael Luke
Bobby Namdar
Ben Pagliaro (Associate Music Director)
Ben Rabinowitz (Manager)
Ethan Roberts
Joey Silver (Music Director)
Jonah Steuer
Ross Wolkenbrod

I know this blabbering has probably been way to cheesy and impossibly hard to read, but I wanted it to be said and thats all that matters I guess. I wish the best to all B Sharps of the future as I know that as long as you guys hang on to the virtues of the group, everything else will fall into place, and as for me, I've learned that every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.

Down the Final Stretch.....6/12/09 1:21 AM
And thus my insomnia has reminded me it is time once again to update the site, and boy what I must cover. The Spring NOA concert was sick, with your favorite male a cappella group performing our newest hits Adding to the Noise, Maniac, and Sentimental Guy. Thank you to all of the alum who were able to make it back and show your support. Also, a week ago we performed once again at the local library for a reason im not quite sure of, but hey, a gig is a gig. Auditions were held this past week and a few of you loyal supporters will soon be able to call yourselves the newest members of the B Sharps..or maybe nobody was accepted. Those secrets are to be revealed soon. If you want to catch what might be your last glimpse of the Sharps this school year, try and sneak in to the Relay For Life Survivors dinner where several groups will be performing, including yours truly. Peace for now, and stay posted for possible announcement of new group members and any other exciting news.

Dancing like the Sharps never danced before...5/4/09
Okay, so the whole starting my post titles with song lyrics is starting to get weird, but when solid work gets done, it just needs to be said. Anyway, the Sharps are getting pumped in preparation for the upcoming Spring Night of A Cappella, which is coming up FRIDAY, MAY 29TH, showtimes at 6:30 and 8:30. (times are tentative but won't move much). If you are interested in either show but can't get to the school to buy tickets, please contact me and I will make sure that seats are held for you. In addition, we will be performing at Cafe Kennedy this Thursday at the High School. The event begins at 8PM and will be filled with musicians and performers from the school looking to put on a good show, hopefully you can make it. And now, for the really exciting news, after a lsightly failed attempt towards the end of last year, the B Sharps will finally be producing their FOURTH ALBUM. The album entitled How Big Is Your Bleu Cheese will be filled with many live performances of favorites like Hump De Bump, Jesus etc, and all the others from a truly tremendous year last year. Final details will be posted within a week or two and will be sold throughout the school day as well as at the A Cappella concert. If you can't find me in school but still want a copy, please contact me via Facebook or at the email address listed on the merch page. That's enough exciting news for this post, so stay tuned and make sure you get your hands on a copy of the new album...

And the site returns.....4/1/09 10:01 PM
I really could have sworn I had updated the site more recently, but then again, I would write a post and forget to save it and post it. So anyway, I'm back and the Sharps are rollin'. Fresh of participating in a workshop at Center Reach High School as well as seeing some groups form Commack & Centerreach High Schools as well as college groups from Stony Brook, St.John's, and Potsdam. In other news, the group is preparing for the home stretch with some new music incuding some Switchfoot and All American Rejects, and maybe even a few surprises to come. Also, check the VIDEO PAGE FOR NEW VIDS (actually, theyre mostly form last year's Spring Night of A Cappella that were never posted, plus one scrambled vid from the Centerreach performance that is worth a watch. Also, check facebook for some vids from this years WNOA. Plus, the date for the spring concert will be posted shortly, for all you alums, nothing means more than having you there so keep watching for updates, info and anything else I put up here. Peace for now.
P.S. THE BIO PAGE IS OFFICIALLY AND FULLY (PENDING MY LIKELY MISTAKES) UPDATED! WOW

All Quiet on the B Sharps Front....1.27.09 7:56 PM
I feel like that title has been used before, but whatever, it pretty much fits the bill as of now. We're on a temporary hiatus due to midterms, and seeing as I have no attention span for studying, it seemed like about time to make a new post. Not terribly much to say except the excitment is definetely building for our spring surge as our memebers are working hard to prepare music and such. So, seeing as nothing happened and im ranting about nothing, I'll just stop talking and go celebrate a wonderful Manchester United victory over West Brom. For those readers who have tests this week, best of luck, and you should be studying, not surfing the internet. As for me, if you are reading this Mr. Herman, this is why I failed your AP Gov midterm.  BTW, check the bio page which is hopefully properly updated at last (minus the pictures for now).

B Sharps, How Sweet the Sound....1.21.09 7:01 PM
Okay, so yes, it has been too long since I updated this, but blame internet explorer's inability to function on my computer. Anyway, I can't really explain how much has passed. The Winter Night of A Cappella was a massive success and the group really stepped up to the plate this time. You loyal supporters should be ready for some hell raising in the coming spring. With songs like Hey Jude, Never Let You Go, Amazing Grace, as well as past favorites like Paper Doll and Frosty of course, it was a sick night. I apologize to all you alumni who were unable to attend and I promise that the spring concert will definetely take place after you guys are home from school, I'll have info on that as soon as possible. For now, I would like to thank all of you who came out and supported the group this past Friday and stay posted because from now on updates will be frequent and chock full of little tidbits of information and dates. BTW, check the bio page for the roster which will finally be properly updated.

You say that we've changed, I guess we did...
Actually, we changed a lot. My past updates have chosen to neglect the addition of three new members in the recent weeks. So now, to inroduce the newest B Sharps. Drum roll please......Ross Wolkenbrod, Corey Hecht, and August Berger. We know they will be valuable additions to the group on our way to another successful year. Thats all for now, so keep checking for updates and go out and vote on Tuesday if you can. The B Sharps are non partisan and will not endorse either candidate, though we do have long standing roots dating to the populist party. So here's to the green back and website update. Peace

Theres Every Good Reason....For Updating the Site 10.7.08 11:19 P.M..
And much like the presidential candidates who debated tonight, I am already breaking promises.....This one about being efficient and updating the website regularly. But then again, not too much had happened, and the space would have just been filled with more of my bad jokes and crappy social/political references. Anyhow, after a solid weekend rehearsal, the group is pumped and ready for talent show auditions in the coming weeks. But what to perform, will it be a journey back our childhoods, and tribute to the king of rock and roll, or a Third Eye Blind surprise. If you didn't pick up on any of those hints, then just stay tuned, because im only able to keep this secret now because the official song hasn't yet been chosen/finished by the group. And on that wonderfully decisive note, see ya later, and keep checkin for updates.
**Alum Update: Congrats to Chris Brick earning a lead role in the Off-Broadway Show Judy and Me

New Beginnings 9.9.08
And after great worry as to the whereabouts of POBJFK's first all male cappella group, we are back and ready for a new year. Since we've been gone, Manchester United won the double, Democrats and Republicans made plenty of headlines, seven B Sharps went off to college, the Jonas Brothers have made me lose faith in society (and modern music) , and the Sharps had a rehearsal. Wait, what?!?! Yep, the year has begun with our first rehearsal,  although shortened by the lack of a music director. We worked on Elvis and Nickelodeon Medleys alike, discussed the year ahead, and taught new members Closing Time. So thats sortof an update to fill the gap since Jordan's final post in May. Anywho, keep checkin in for updates on upcoming rehearsals, events, and so on. Peace for now

Extra!  Extra!  5.24.08  1:05PM
Okay, inordinate amount of time between updates or not, I am still here and the Sharps are alive and kickin'!  In fact, we even had auditions for next year  and we have here a prospective list of our 2008-2009 group (new members italicized):
                                   Scott Waldman (Business Mgr.)
                                   Max Bennett
                                   Joey Silver (Music Mgr.)
                                   Harrison Chad
                                   Michael Luke
                                   Ethan Roberts
                                   Ben Pagliaro
                                   Ben Rabinowitz
                                   Danny Mogul
                                   Bobby Namdar
So there you have it!  Of course, this list is still subject to change as it probably will in the coming moths, so you will definitely hear more as soon as this season ends and Waldy takes the reigns.
The B-Sharps are giving you THREE opportunities to experience the music and the magic this spring.  Now, we only have two venues, the Night of Acappella and the B-Sharps BBQ, but we will be performing almost two completely different sets at each show of the Night of Acappella!  If it isn't cost effective for you to come to both shows, then tickets are already on sale for the B-Sharps BBQ (Friday June 6th) in which we will be showcasing a year's worth of repitoire and some original skits!
To round out this post, Mickey Rapkin, author of the upcoming book Pitch Perfect about collegiate acappella, visited our auditions last week and mentioned us and Chock Full of Notes in his blog and posted videos as well.  Here's a link, check it out: http://pitchperfect-thebook.blogspot.com/.  Alright that's it for now, check back lata!
